The committee for the 2015 IFIP TC-11 Kristian Beckman Award has decided to confer the award on Professor Ian Brown, University of Oxford, UK.
Ian Brown has made significant interdisciplinary contributions to the field of Information security and privacy, e.g. in the areas of medical systems and critical infrastructure protection, while also covering legal and ethical issues, especially when they related to values important for nowadays information and communication infrastructures.
Ian Brown has directed his work not only to the academic community, but also to policy makers at e.g. the UN, the OECD, the Council of Europe, and various international parliamentary and government institutions.
With his work Ian Brown has been promoting our profession to a wider international audience raising awareness of its important implications on private and business life.
